What You Are Ordering

A DTF transfer is your design printed onto coated transfer film with a white ink base and heat-activated adhesive. It arrives printed and ready for application. You position it on a compatible garment, apply the correct heat and pressure, peel the carrier according to the included instructions, and complete the recommended finishing press.

You are ordering the transfer—not a finished shirt. Blank apparel and heat-press application are not included with this product.

DTF transfers can reproduce full-color artwork, gradients, photographs, logos, and detailed designs without screen setup or vinyl weeding. They can be used on many cotton, polyester, blended, canvas, denim, and compatible performance garments, including light and dark colors.

How to Order DTF Transfers by Size

Choose a listed size

Select the size that best fits your intended print location. Measure the actual garment whenever possible instead of choosing from memory.

Upload print-ready artwork

A transparent, high-resolution PNG is preferred. Vector files and other accepted formats may also be uploaded when properly prepared.

Select your quantity

Order one transfer for a sample or the quantity required for your full project. Add the configured product to your cart and complete checkout.

Ordering multiple designs? Configure each design separately unless every transfer uses the same artwork and size. For many different designs or a larger production run, the DTF Gang Sheet Builder may provide a more efficient ordering method.

How to Choose the Right DTF Transfer Size

Transfer size should be based on the garment, print location, artwork shape, and the look you want. A design that works on an adult large shirt may look oversized on a youth shirt or undersized on a 3XL hoodie.

Lay the garment flat and use a ruler or measuring tape to mark the approximate width and height before ordering. For valuable jobs, print the design on regular paper at the intended dimensions, cut it out, and place it on the garment. This simple paper test is more dependable than guessing from a screen.

These are practical starting points, not universal rules. Garment cut, apparel size, artwork proportions, and personal preference can change the ideal dimensions.

Understand the Selected Size Before Uploading

Your artwork should fit naturally within the size you select. The design must not be stretched, squeezed, or distorted simply to fill a square or rectangle.

Correct approach

Preserve the artwork's proportions

A wide logo should remain wide. A tall design should remain tall. Resize proportionally so circles stay round, faces remain natural, and lettering is not distorted.

Avoid forcing artwork into the box

Selecting 11" × 11" does not mean a rectangular logo should be stretched into a square. Unnecessary transparent space can also make the visible design print smaller than expected.

Visible artwork matters more than the canvas. Crop excess transparent space around the design before uploading. A file with large empty margins may technically match the selected dimensions while the actual printed artwork appears much smaller.

Artwork Requirements for Clean DTF Printing

  • Clean edges without unwanted background pixels
  • Legible text and sufficiently thick fine details
  • Artwork cropped close to the visible design

  • Unwanted white or colored background boxes
  • Blurry artwork enlarged beyond its original quality
  • Extremely thin lines or tiny text that may not transfer cleanly
  • Drop shadows, glows, or stray pixels you do not want printed
  • Files that require redesigning after the order is submitted
Increasing the DPI number does not create missing detail. A small, blurry image remains blurry when enlarged. Start with the largest and cleanest original file available.

Applying Your DTF Transfers

A heat press is strongly recommended because successful application depends on consistent temperature, time, and pressure across the entire transfer. Household irons and handheld presses may create uneven results, especially on larger designs.

Correct Peel Peel only as directed for the transfer film provided.

Basic application workflow

  1. Confirm that the garment is compatible and clean.
  2. Pre-press briefly to remove moisture and wrinkles.
  3. Position the transfer with the printed design facing the garment.
  4. Press using the time, temperature, and pressure supplied with your order.
  5. Peel according to the included instructions.
  6. Complete the recommended finishing press with protective paper or a suitable cover sheet.

Heat presses can display inaccurate temperatures, and garments react differently. Test one item before pressing the full production run.

Production, Shipping, and Local Pickup

DTFera produces most qualifying DTF transfer orders the same or next business day. Production time is the time required to prepare and print the order. Shipping transit begins after the carrier receives the package and depends on the shipping service, destination, weather, and carrier operations.

Orders containing artwork problems, unusually large quantities, or special requests may require additional production time. Peak periods can also affect turnaround. Select your shipping method during checkout and place deadline-sensitive orders as early as possible.

Local pickup is available by appointment in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Do not travel to the pickup location until you have received confirmation that the order is ready.

No. This listing is for printed DTF transfers only. You supply the blank garments and apply the transfers with a heat press.

Will my artwork be stretched to fill the selected size?

Artwork should never be stretched or distorted to fill a size. Preserve the original proportions. A horizontal logo should remain horizontal, and a portrait design should remain portrait. Crop unnecessary transparent space so the visible artwork prints at the expected size.

Does transparent space count toward my file dimensions?

It can. Large transparent margins around a design may reduce the size of the visible artwork within the selected area. Crop the canvas close to the design before uploading.

What file type should I upload?

A transparent PNG at 300 DPI and at the final intended size is preferred for most raster designs. Properly prepared vector and other accepted design files may also work. Read our artwork requirements guide before submitting your file.

Can you make a blurry image sharp?

Not reliably. Enlarging a small or blurry image does not recreate missing detail. Use the highest-quality original artwork available. If the file looks blurry at the final print dimensions, it may print blurry.

Will a white background print?

Yes. If white or another background color is part of the uploaded artwork, it may be treated as printable artwork. Use a truly transparent background when you want only the design itself transferred.

Can DTF transfers be used on black shirts?

Yes. DTF transfers include a white underbase that helps the artwork remain visible on both light and dark compatible garments.

What fabrics work with DTF transfers?

DTF is commonly used on cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, tri-blends, canvas, denim, and many compatible performance fabrics. Results depend on the garment's coating, weave, stretch, heat tolerance, and dye behavior. Test unfamiliar materials before production.

Can I use a household iron?
